the patch collection

Hundreds of unique designs — sports teams and pop culture for the younger crowd, vintage finds and classic designs for the adults, themed patches that tie into your child’s celebration, and custom patches with their name, Hebrew name, or event artwork.

Guests spend 20 to 40 minutes at the bar. That dwell time is the entertainment —browsing, comparing, laughing at the funny patches, getting unexpectedly invested in finding the right combination.

Every guest walks away wearing something they made — at your child’s simcha. That’s the keepsake. That’s the memory.

The Hat Bar Is Built for the Mitzvah Crowd

Mitzvah parties are unique in the party world — they need to work for a 13-year-old and their 75-year-old grandmother at the same time. Most activities don’t manage this. A hat bar does, and here’s why:

Universal appeal across every age: There’s no wrong way to design a hat. Younger guests go for bold, fun patches — sports teams, pop culture, bright colors. Adults and grandparents gravitate toward more classic or personalized designs. Everyone finds something that speaks to them, which means everyone engages. We’ve never seen a generation gap at a hat bar.

It’s the ultimate icebreaker: Mitzvah guest lists often include family and friends who’ve never met. A hat bar creates instant common ground — people lean over to see each other’s designs, share patch recommendations, and ask where someone found that perfect vintage baseball patch. Connections form naturally, without any forced mixer activity.

Teenagers love it — genuinely: The bar or bat mitzvah and their friend group will spend the most time at the hat bar. Customization, self-expression, and the ability to create something that reflects their individual style is exactly what teenagers want from a party activity. It’s cool without trying to be cool, which is the hardest thing to pull off at a 13-year-old’s party.

Adults stay as long as the kids: This is the thing that surprises families most. Parents and grandparents don’t just watch — they design their own hats. We regularly see grandparents who’ve been at the bar for 45 minutes, completely absorbed, and not remotely interested in leaving.

The mitzvah honouree gets their moment: We can create custom patches with the bar or bat mitzvah’s name, theme artwork, or celebration date. When the honouree’s design is part of the gallery, guests naturally gravitate toward incorporating it — creating a shared keepsake that ties back to them specifically.

The weekend was magical. All parts of it. And it was so fun to see how much our guests (of all ages) loved your patch bar. On Sunday, when family came over for brunch, it was cute to see all the swag they selected. You also had a top notch team working it and the patches and options were excellent. Thank you for your flexibility with the hats.

Forget the boring swag. Give Them Something They Made.

Mitzvah favour bags are a tradition — but most end up abandoned on tables or forgotten in the car. A hat designed by your guest, at your celebration, with patches they chose themselves? That’s different. That comes home. That gets worn to school on Monday. That gets posted on Instagram with your child’s name in the caption.

A Naked Hats hat bar replaces the standard favour budget with something far more memorable: a premium, personalized keepsake that every guest made with their own hands. For families who want their mitzvah to feel genuinely distinctive — not another beautiful-but-forgettable event — the hat bar delivers that in a way nothing else quite does.

Custom patches featuring your bar or bat mitzvah’s name, Hebrew name, theme, or celebration date are available as a featured design element at the bar. These can be included as part of the general patch gallery or highlighted as a signature patch for the event.

We Work With Your Theme, Not Against It

Mitzvah parties often have strong themes — from sports and travel to music, fashion, nature, and beyond. Our patch collection is extensive enough that we can naturally align with almost any theme without needing custom production. A sports-themed mitzvah? We have hundreds of sports patches. A travel theme? Destination patches, globe designs, vintage airline motifs. A music theme? Instruments, band logos, music notes.

For themes where custom patches would make the biggest impact, we offer bespoke patch production with your theme artwork. These work beautifully as the hero element of the hat bar — something uniquely tied to your child’s celebration that guests can choose to include in their design.

Reach out with your theme and we’ll advise on what’s possible from our existing collection and where custom patches would add the most value.

What to Expect on the Day

Planning & Setup

Once you book, we’ll align with you (and your event coordinator if you have one) on hat selection, color palette, and any custom patch or theme requirements. We arrive 60–90 minutes before your guests to set up the complete hat bar — the full patch gallery, mirrors, hat displays, and heat presses. Everything is handled by our team.

During the Party

The hat bar runs as a drop-in activity throughout the designated activation window. Guests come and go as they please — some spend 10 minutes, some spend longer. Our team guides every guest through the design process warmly and patiently, making sure the youngest guests get as much attention as the adults.

Our team is sized to your mitzvah’s guest count. Larger celebrations get multiple heat-press stations and dedicated patch stylists to guide guests and keep the line moving — so every generation gets their moment at the bar without waiting.

We factor both duration and guest count into every quote so nobody waits longer than a few minutes. Guests are free to wait for their item to be pressed or to return later to pick it up.

Teardown

Our team handles complete teardown and cleanup at the end of the activation window. Your venue coordinator won’t need to manage a thing.

Amanda and her team were a major hit at our party! Kids and adults alike had a blast creating their custom hats! She was a pleasure to work with and would highly recommend for your next party or event!
